Ohio Judge Revokes Brayton Purcell's Pro Hac Vice Status

CLEVELAND -- An Ohio judge on Jan. 19 granted a motion to revoke Brayton Purcell's pro hac vice status in Cuyahoga County for lying to the court and bankruptcy trusts, effectively barring a leading asbestos plaintiffs' firm from practicing in the state (Jack Kananian, et al. v. Lorillard Tobacco Co., No. 442750, Ohio Comm. Pls., Cuyahoga Co.).

Fewer Insurance Lawsuits Being Filed In Federal Court In 2004, Study Released By LexisNexis Concludes
If the current trend continues, there will again be fewer insurance cases filed in federal court this year than in 2003 and 2002, according to a report by LexisNexis. There were 3,991 cases in which "insurance" is the nature of suit filed in federal courts in the first half of 2004. That compares with 4,298 for the first half of last year and 4,463 in the first half of 2002.
